Sunday intimations
Anyone with intimations and notices for a Sunday morning is asked to give them to Stewart McNeil by the previous Friday. He has agreed to collate the intimations for us and it will help enormously if intimations can be given in advance of a Sunday morning.
Children's club
Anyone passing the church hall and hearing the noise coming from it during the school holidays may well have wondered what was happening. In fact it was a very happy group of an average of 25 children taking part in the Champions Challenge, where they were learning about what type of people Jesus had on his team and also the role that He had in the team. We also had stories from Barney Bee who is teaching us about the Beatitudes.
Now that the holidays are over we are planning to continue with the same format on a Sunday morning at 11.15 am with the children coming to church for special services. This is the plan until a new minister is in place as he/she will obviously have their own ideas for children's ministry.
The team would very much appreciate the prayers of the congregation as they take this new initiative forward.
The Girls' Brigade
The new session has started well with a good intake of new faces. There is still time to join us, so if you know of any girl aged 3 upwards who would be interested in learning new crafts, skills and games please let them know. We meet every Wednesday evening in the Church Hall, except school holidays, girls age 3 to Primary 5 from 6.15 pm to 7.30 pm and Primary 6 upwards from 7.30 pm to 9.00 pm. Enrolment fee is a one off payment of £6 plus £1 collection per week to help with running costs.
We are looking forward to celebrating our 70th Anniversary this session plus we are hosting The Motherwell Division Spring Praise Service and AGM in 2009.
The Officers and girls are very excited and enjoying our new hall where we will be able to expand on our badge work and activities. We would like to extend our thanks to Mrs Morag Johnston and all her staff at Holytown Primary School for the hospitality and kindness they showed us over the past two sessions.
As part of Junior 1's section badge work they will be collecting used postage stamps for charity. If you would like to help with this project please put your used postage stamps in a sealed envelope marked "GB stamps" and leave them at the front of the church on a Sunday morning where an officer will collect them. Alternatively you can hand them to an officer or girl in the Company to bring along on a Wednesday evening.
Thank you. Marlene Milton, Captain
The Guild
The new Session of the Guild commences on Wednesday 8th October at 7.15 pm in the Senior Citizens' Centre, Main Street, Holytown. Anyone wishing to join us will be made welcome.
A word of thanks
Mr and Mrs E Sinclair wish to express their sincere thanks to the Rev lain Goring for his many visits both at home and at the hospital. Also thanks to members of the congregation for their cards and concern, and to Mrs Christine Bell for the lovely flowers delivered on behalf of the Church.
A thought shared Be Still, Be Thoughtful, Be Reverent, For this is God's House Before the Service, Speak to the Lord During the Service, let the Lord speak to you After the Service, Speak to each other.
This appeared on an Order of Service of a Church which a number of us visited recently and we wished to share it with you.
