To :- The Congregation of Holytown
This pastoral letter has been held back in the hope that I would have some good news to impart to you regarding the situation of the Interim Minister. Unfortunately at the time of writing I have no word as to when the Service of Linkage and Induction will take place.
I don't know about you but I do remember when I was a youngster (I have a good memory) being told on many occasions to have patience, as patience has it's own rewards. It was then and still is today scant consolation when we have waited for such a long time to hear some good news.
Speaking of Good News it is something that we do have, perhaps not in relation to the Interim Minister but, in the form of God's Word. There are many occasions in the Bible when people had to be patient and wait for the real outcome of so many situations. They required patience, just as we do in our present time.
There will, I'm sure, be great rejoicing when the date, time and the name of the Interim Minister is made known to us.
Meantime we should continue to give support to those who are conducting Worship and ensure that we are in the best possible state for the beginning of the new phase in the life of our Church here in Holytown.
This is the time of year when all the various organisations begin their new sessions. The Board and the Kirk Session have already met following the summer break. The Boys and Girls of the Brigades have also begun their respective activities. The Guild start up again this month and of course the Sunday School continues Sunday by Sunday for the children of the Church.
My hope and my prayer is that in the not too distant future we will be given the information that we have all been waiting for as it is such a long time when nothing apparently has been happening.
Perhaps it will be like when, we as youngsters, we longed for something good to come along. When the new Minister comes it will I'm sure have been well worth the wait. Please continue to pray, and in your prayers remember those who have the task of decision making which will affect our future here in Holytown.
May God's richest blessing be yours
