Back to Church Sunday has brought back 30,000 people since it began about four years ago and some churches have seen their congregations increase by 100%. Back to Church Sunday is for ex churchgoers and for newcomers alike, all who come will be made welcome and after the service there will be a chance for newcomers to talk about their experience over a hot cup of tea and cakes. We're looking to give each newcomer some further info on the church and information on help groups if needed and what to do next.

We hope any new people coming to church or any lapsed members returning will have a positive experience and discover or rediscover why we worship God and follow His Son Jesus and why He is the head of the Church and vitally important in our day-to-day lives and beyond.

Holytown Parish Church and New Stevenston Wrangholm Kirk are holding a Back to Church Sunday on October 5th 2008.

Back to Church Sunday is where each person within the two congregations personally invite someone to come along to church with them. It can be absolutely anyone, who each invites is entirely up to them. The emphasis is on a big warm welcome for newcomers and the service will be a 'normal' service but geared towards a more introductory style, explaining why and when we do things during the service such as when to sit and stand and what responses to give during prayer etc. Any newcomers will be invited to join in but not expected to do so - just to do what feels comfortable for them.
