Letter from our Interim Moderator
Dear friends
It was good to be with you on Sunday 14th September, as Mrs Caryl Kyle led us all in morning worship. She was, of course, preaching as Sole Nominee for the vacancy in the linked charge. I am happy to inform you, if you have not already heard, that the congregation overwhelmingly supported her election as the new minister of Holytown linked with Wrangholm Kirk. As soon as the Presbytery makes arrangements for her ordination and induction, this will be announced so that as many as possible can attend.
In the meantime, there is still much to do. Sunday 5th October ushers in a new venture called 'Back to Church Sunday'. This is where you are each asked to personally invite a friend along to worship in the hope that they might enjoy the service and return on a more regular basis. Please make the effort to spread the word and attend what will be a happy occasion.
Jesus, Who came to earth in the flesh to show us what God's love is like and to embrace death so that we might live, was clear in His commission to those who would follow Him. He said, "Go into all the world and make disciples of all nations."
I wonder, never mind the rest of the world, are you prepared to take the message of the Good News to those who live in your street? Or, to speak about the things of Christian faith with your colleagues? It may just be the very invitation for which they are waiting!
In His service.
The Revd Derek W. Hughes
