The Guild
The Guild has now resumed. The programme for the next few weeks is as follows:
On 4th November the Rev lain Goring will be renewing acquaintance with everyone. On the 11th Bobby and Isobel Johnston will be our guests. On the 18th Moira Harrison will be giving tips on Christmas Decorations. The 25th is Guild Week. Finally on 2nd December we shall be having a Beetle Drive.
The Girls' Brigade
On Saturday 24th October in Larbert, three girls from the Explorer Section, Chloe Brownlie, Morgan McKenzie and Rachel Sinclair, took part in the National Explorer Competition. They were competing against 14 other teams and although they weren't placed they did very well.
The Explorers decorated a cake and were awarded second place for their achievement, they made a model car for which they were placed third, made a picture from play dough, enjoyed a quiz and took part in several physical activities. All the points from the different events were added together to determine the final score.
On the same day also in Larbert, two girls, Abbie McAteer and Lauryn McCall from the Junior Section, competed against 33 other teams from all over Scotland in the National Somerville Competition and were awarded second place.
Abbie and Lauryn made a two-storey dolls' house from shoeboxes and made furniture and figures for the dolls' house from junk material.
Well done to all the girls.
On Sunday 25th October we joined the Boys' Brigade and Guild for our Re-dedication Service. There was a disappointing turn out of the Company. Two of our Brigaders, Julia and Jacqueline McKendrick, read from the Old Testament, 1 Samuel Chapter 3.
A challenge for the young folk
I'm quite sure you remember little bits of information much better if you have found out the answer for yourself. Here are a few questions for you and where, in the Bible, you can find the answer.
How did Moses get his name? (Exodus 2)
Why was the bush not burnt? (Exodus 3)
What is the missing word? Fear ye not, stand still, and see the ____ Of the Lord. (Exodus 14)
Why could the people not drink the waters of Marah? (Exodus 15)
What was Moses' father-in-law called? (Exodus 18)
