Holytown linked with Wrangholm Kirk: New Stevenston - Nominating committee
On Sunday 3rd February following both services of worship, we elected the members of our Nominating Committee, charged with the task of finding a new minister to work with us. In discussion with Presbytery it had been agreed that Holytown (with a larger communion roll) appoint 7 members to the Committee, and Wrangholm appoint 6. The committee which was elected from the membership of Holytown and Wrangholm is as follows:
Glen Baillie Pam Connacher Steven Cornfield Russell Frame lan Houston Netta Lithgow Margaret McBride Syd McCartney Stewart McNeil Margaret Milne David Paterson Ann Peat David Shaw
At the first meeting of the Committee, lain Goring was appointed as Convener, Margaret Milne as Vice-Convener and Netta Lithgow as Clerk. The work of the Nominating Committee is now underway. The advert has appeared in Life and Work and in March it will appear in Ministers' Forum - a publication that goes to every minister in the Church of Scotland.
One aspect of the Committee's work that is important to mention to you all is confidentiality. The Nominating Committee will only be able to give very general information about the work it is involved in. When we are dealing with the livelihoods of individuals, it is essential that confidentiality is not broken. It would not be right for the Committee or any of its members to say what it is doing, or where it is going, or who it is speaking to. I am very aware that this is always a difficult situation, because as members of the church we want to know how things are progressing - but allowing confidences to be broken could cause huge problems!
Difficult as it might be, I would urge you not to put members of the Committee into the position of having to say 'No'. You can rest assured that when it is possible and right to give information out, we will do so.
