For the tots
Perhaps you think that because you are small you are not important. That is not true. In the Bible we read about a little man who desperately wanted to see Jesus. Do you know what he did? He climbed a tree so that he could get a good view. But it was not just Zaccheus who saw Jesus, Jesus saw Zaccheus and invited himself to Zaccheus' house.
The little man collected taxes and sometimes he had taken more money from the people than he should. Because of his meeting with Jesus and his belief in Jesus Zaccheus was a completely changed man. He gave back the money he should not have taken and gave the people more than he had received. The day that Zaccheus met Jesus changed his life for ever.
For the teens
We are inclined to believe that important people have many things that we do not have. A long time ago, the Bible tells us, that a man called Naaman suffered from leprosy. This was a dreaded disease and often those who had leprosy were isolated from other people.
Naaman brought a young girl from Israel to be a maid for his wife in their home in Syria. The girl was in effect a slave but she wanted to help her master. She spoke to her mistress and suggested that Naaman go to Israel and speak to Elisha, the prophet, and find a cure for the leprosy.
The King of Syria wrote a letter to the King of Israel. The King of Israel was so upset that he rent his clothes. Elisha heard of this and asked that Naaman be sent to him. Strange to say, when Naaman stood outside Elisha's door Elisha sent a messenger with the message that he bathe in the River Jordan seven times. Can you imagine what Naaman was thinking? He was annoyed first of all because the instruction about bathing came from a messenger and secondly he believed that the rivers in his own country were better. After some time, Naaman was persuaded to wash in the Jordan and after the seventh time in the water his skin was absolutely clean.
The treatment which cured Naaman was very simple and straightforward. Nothing elaborate had to be done. Very often we find that problems we have can be solved very simply - not with mighty deeds but very easily with little effort.
