February 2006
To :- The Congregation of Holytown
Another month has so very quickly passed and unfortunately the latter part of January was rather dramatic to say the least. The 30th of January will be remembered by many people for the fire that destroyed the Church Hall. The Police and Fire Brigade have closed their respective files on the incident as there were no suspicious circumstances.
Things are moving apace for we have a proposal which will be presented to Presbytery at their meeting at the beginning of March for the re-building of a Hall on the sight. Should this be approved we will then require to provide a detailed drawing to show the exact design of the hall. Further approval will then be required from both Presbytery and the General Trustees before the building work can begin.
Regarding the Vacancy and where we are now. A meeting has been arranged with the Office Bearers of both Holytown and Wrangholm for the 15th of March when representatives from both Presbytery and the relevant Committee from Edinburgh will put forward the proposal to the meeting regarding the proposed Interim Ministry.
Votes will be taken separately by the Office Bearers of both Churches and should the result of these votes be of a positive nature further meetings will be held with both Congregations when separate votes will be taken.
Should all that be achieved we will then be in a position to move the procedure forward thereby allowing the appointment of an Interim Minister who will take the process forward to a satisfactory conclusion.
The next few months are going to be very important as the Office Bearers and Congregations of both churches seek to come to a amicable arrangement for the future well being of everyone involved. I would ask every one of you to remember in your prayers all who will be involved in the discussions and decisions that surround the future of the Church in the coming months.
Provided that people are prepared for what will inevitably lead to some changes around the Church they will have, in time, a solid and sustainable situation. I am sure that the future will be, with God's guiding hand to help, a bright future for you all in Holytown.
May God richly bless you in the days and weeks that lie ahead....
