The Girls' Brigade
On Saturday 7 February girls from all sections took part in the Motherwell Divisional Competitions in Crosshill Parish Church, Motherwell.
The first competition was the Explorer Action Song: 'I'm a dingle, dangle scarecrow'. Although our team did very well we weren't placed.
In the 'Teddy Olympics' the teams had to assist their teddies around some obstacles. Well done to Chloe Tannahill, Morgan McKenzie, Chloe Barraclough and Katie McCall who managed third place. Thanks to Katie, who filled in at the last minute to make up the team.
Caitlin Duff and Lauryn McCall were our team for the Junior crafts for Primary 4 and 5. Unfortunately we weren't placed in this competition but the girls enjoyed themselves nevertheless and thanks go to Lauryn for stepping in at the last minute to make up the team.
In the Junior Crafts for Primary 6 and 7 we gained first place for our puppet making. Our team for this event was Abbie McAteer and Jodie Barr.
We also managed first place in the Brigader Crafts for S1-S3 section and runner up in the Brigader Crafts for S4-S6 section. Both teams had to produce a frieze depicting the story of Noah with the materials supplied. Our teams for this event were: Brigader 1 - winners - Amy McGhee and Julia McKendrick: Brigader 2 - Runners up - Kirsty Shaw and Abigail Grover.
The last competition of the day was the Junior sports and once again we managed a first place. This was a 'potted sports event'. Our team on this occasion was: Lauryn McCall, Taylor Beattie, Jodie Barr and Abbie McAteer.
Well done to everyone who took part in all the competitions.
Just a reminder that our 70th Anniversary Praise Service will be on Sunday 8th March from 3.00 pm to 4.00 pm with light refreshments in the Hall afterwards with a small display of the Company's history. Everyone is welcome to come along and help us celebrate our birthday. An offering will be uplifted at this Service, which will be divided between Holytown Parish Church and the chosen charity of Motherwell Division.
We-will also be hosting the Motherwell Divisional Spring Praise Service in Holytown Parish Church on Sunday 29 March from 3.00 pm to 4.00 pm and again everyone is welcome to join us for this Service. An offering will be uplifted for Charity.
Hot off the press
On Saturday 21st February Emma Baillie and Jacqueline McKendrick entered the last stages of Leadership Training. This will be followed by an evening's training after which Emma and Jacqueline will be promoted to Warrant Officers.
Mrs Isobel McNally is also undertaking training to become an Officer in the Company. . On Sunday 22nd February, Emma Baillie, Jacqueline McKendrick and Kirsty Shaw took part in the Motherwell Divisional Sports Competition for Brigaders which this year was single's badminton.
All three made it into the 2nd round. Unfortunately Emma and Jacqueline were drawn against each other. Jacqueline won through to the final. After a long and exciting game we are pleased to announce that Jacqueline took first place. Well done to all three girls!
Thank you.

Magazine articles
The February edition has been the slimmest magazine we've produced for some time despite having a couple of new contributors. Please keep the articles coming so we can make it a good read for all those who receive it or read it on the Church's website.
Evening celebrations
Please try and make an effort to come along to our evening celebrations on the last Sunday of the month at 6.30 pm. Among other things, we're going to use these services to try out and learn some of the more modern hymns in CH4 and after all the singing you can enjoy a cup of tea/coffee and some fellowship at the end of the service.
