Bringing you up-to-date with correspondence
You will recall that we sent the Retiring Offering at the Harvest Thanksgiving Service to Christian Aid. We also sent a share of the offering at the Carol Concert and the Christmas Eve Service to four different groups. Let me share the "thank-you" letters received with you.
From Christian Aid
"Many thanks for your kind donation of £221.00 on 21 November 2007 towards the work of Christian Aid.your gift will help support our work in more than 50 of the world's poorest countries.
"We have been focusing our thoughts and prayers this harvest with our sisters and brothers in Zimbabwe and the work of Christian Care, our partner there. One of the many people they have helped is Violah, who nursed both her parents as they died of HIV-related illnesses. Now, at seventeen, Violah looks after her four younger sisters in drought-prone Zimbabwe. When the rains fail and the harvest is poor Violah struggles to feed her family. Christian care provides monthly food parcels to help orphan families cope when times are hard. Thanks to them, Violah and her sisters get three meals a day, even during drought.
"Christian Aid believes in strengthening people to find their own solutions to the problems they face. We do whatever is needed to support poor people and their communities, whether it's speaking out against the causes of poverty or funding vital work on the ground. The generosity of our supporters means we are currently able to support over 600 partner organisations around the world as they work towards ending the injustice of poverty.
"Once again, thank you so much for your continued support of our work with and for the poorest communities on earth. With your continued help, we can make a difference."
From Dreamflight
"Please convey my sincere thanks, on behalf of Dreamflight, to all concerned in the donating of £158 to our charity.
"We are already in the early stages of planning for the 2008 trip, which will be our 22nd holiday in Florida, bringing the number of deserving children we have given the experience to - to over 4,000!
"All good wishes for 2008."
