Here we are in February and no matter where I look the world seems to be inundated with signs of love!
Now you might say well that's great, that's exactly what Caryl wants, that's what she is always preaching, that we should 'Love the Lord our God with all our heart and with all our soul and with all our mind and love our neighbour as ourselves' and so isn't it good that she sees such signs of love abounding in our world.
Well, if only it was such signs of people loving God with all their heart and soul and mind and loving others!
However, the signs that are abounding at the moment are much more commercial signs of love!
Yes! Valentine's Day approaches and the advertisers are doing their utmost to encourage us to send messages of love and to buy their 'love themed' products and to give them to our loved ones as symbols of our love for them.
So everywhere we look there are Valentine's Cards, red hearts, red roses, red balloons, little bears with red hearts on them, love mugs, heart shaped chocolates and so it goes on! All designed as tokens of love.
All designed to be given to display our love for someone special in our lives.
Now there is no denying it is nice to be remembered by a loved one on Valentine's Day, perhaps even to receive a token of their love and it is pleasing to be able to remember your special loved one in a similar way.
But, why on one day of the year only?
Surely we should be reminding those we love of our love for them each and every day, reminding them how special they are to us.
If we do love God with all our heart and soul and mind then we should be reminding him every day of our love for him and we should be sharing his love with others so that the right signs of love abounding in our world are present and not just the commercial signs we see around Valentine's Day!
It is nice to be loved, so let's share love and let everyone of God's creation feel special not just on Valentine's Day but every day!
