To :- The Congregation of Holytown
"Time and tide wait for no man" an old saying but one that is so very true. Following on from last months letter I can report that the proposal to rebuild the Church Hall was approved in principal at the March meeting of Presbytery. There have also been preliminary talks regarding the Hall with members of the Church of Scotland General Trustees and the result from that meeting was very positive.
Now turning to the Vacancy and the meetings that have been held during the last month. Firstly a meeting of the Office Bearers of both Holytown and Wrangholm was held in Holytown with members of Presbytery and the members of the Committee for Interim Ministry from Edinburgh. Following the presentation made by the Edinburgh Committee a vote was taken firstly of the Office Bearers of Holytown and then those who represented Wrangholm. Both votes were unanimously in favour of taking the presentation to both Congregations.
This then led us to Wrangholm where a joint meeting of the Congregations viewed the same presentation that the Office Bearers had seen at the previous meeting.
Following a time when questions received answers, the people who were present representing the two congregations voted separately. The result of both votes was unanimous that we should jointly seek through the Committee in Edinburgh the appointment of an Interim Minister for a period of time to serve the Congregations.
This has been a very long process for the members of Holytown in particular but sometimes it is said that "all good things come to those who wait." It is my hope and prayer that this will be so very true not only for Holytown but for Wrangholm as well.
We are fast approaching the time in the Christian calendar when we remember our Lord's entry into Jerusalem and the joyous people who greeted him at that time. The very same people were those who within a few short days called for him to be crucified. Which then leads us to the joy of Easter Sunday when we remember the empty tomb and the resurrection of him who is our risen Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ.
Easter season and I trust that you will all be richly blessed in the days and weeks that lie ahead....
